【旅遊】〈旅遊英文通〉飲食篇三:點餐前奏曲
撰文/Gwen
抵達餐廳,接待員熱情招呼並問可有訂位:「Good evening, welcome to餐廳名稱. Do you have a reservation?」;確認後帶位:「Follow me, Mr./Ms. XXXX. (或This way, please.) Here’s your table for two.」;遞上菜單並告知侍者旋即來服務:「Here are your menus. Your waiter/waitress will be here to serve you soon/shortly.」。
瀏覽菜單當兒侍者來了;他/她開口問可否點菜:「Are you ready to order?/Have you decided what to order?/May I take your order?」。倆人尚未決定,欲請侍者稍候說:「One moment/Just a moment, please. We haven’t made up our minds yet.」。
有時侍者見客人凝視菜單面色猶豫,亦會體貼請客人慢慢來,他/她過幾分鐘再來:「Take your time, and I’ll be back a couple of minutes later.」。
仍無法決定,打算請侍者推薦菜色說:「What would/do you recommend?」;或者也可直言不諳該地(如美國)料理請其推薦:「We know nothing about American food, could you recommend?」;問今日特餐:「What is today’s special?/Is there a special menu for today?」;是否有套餐:「Do you have any set meal?/Is a set meal available?」
