【旅遊】〈旅遊英文通〉打電話(二)

打電話到飯店、航空公司等處聽到接線生(operator)報出服務機構並問有何可效勞:「Hello, this is XXX Hotel/Airlines/Company. May I help you?」你回答:「請幫我轉接Alan Smith先生好嗎?」(Could you please connect me with Mr. Alan Smith?)。
對方問你哪位:「May/Can I ask who’s calling/speaking, please?」或「May/Can I have your name, please?」。
轉接前請你稍候說:「Please hold (on a moment) while I transfer you to Mr. Alan Smith.」或「I’ll put you through. Hold the line, please.」。
對方忙線中,接線生會說:「I’m sorry. The line is busy. / The line is engaged. / Mr. Smith is on the phone.」。接續問:「你想等一會兒嗎?」(Would you like to stay on hold/Would you care to hold?) 是就回答:「Yes. Thank you.」。持續佔線,接線生告知:「The line is still busy/engaged.」並徵詢留言否。
另外,你也可能聽到這些回應:「抱歉,Smith先生目前無法接電話/不在位置上/和客戶在開會。我可以幫你留話嗎?」(I’m sorry. Mr. Smith is not available to take your call at this moment/not at his desk/meeting with clients. May I take a message?)
